Q You have a wide range of skills that you have acquired, many of which influenced your ability to learn other skills. For this assignment your task is to consider how those skills are interrelated and affect one another. That is, think about how skill transfer has occurred in your life and provide a comprehensive example as an illustration. For example, I would describe how I my skills in soccer (field vision, hand-eye coordination, footwork) benefitted my tennis performance. Your personal reflection should be roughly 2 double-spaced pages in length and summarize the skills, explain how skill transfer played out in your life, and how your performance was influenced by this skill transfer. “Skill transfer is a process where personal cognitive and behavioral abilities are applied to contexts that are different from the one in which they were originally learned.” (Sebri et al., 2020) I’ve been playing badminton since the age of ten. The reason why I gradually liked playing this sport, was that it involved multiple aspects together and helped me improve my skills. Badminton stimulates arm muscle movement, and cognitive ability (more specifically, decision-making and memory attention) to understand the pattern of the opponent’s gameplay and even develop a sense of self-esteem that grew stronger each time I won. Moreover, since badminton is usually a fast spaced sport that often finds us in a competitive situation I’ve also developed the ability to manage stress well. These skills, even though they might trivial at first, are most important to lead a healthy life both mentally and physically.
